Submission, Peer-Review and Publication Process

A full double-blind peer review process is used that comprises of the following steps.

  • Paper is sent to 2 reviewers for review. The reviewers' recommendations determine whether a paper will be accepted / accepted subject to change / subject to resubmission with significant changes / rejected.
  • For papers which require changes, the same reviewers will be used to ensure that the quality of the revised paper is acceptable.
  • If a paper is accepted the author will be notified via email, the acceptance will also be on the author's account page.
  • Acceptance letter will be provided after the payment has been made.
  • Author/Corresponding Author will be notified about the possible date of publication (both online and print).
  • One hard copy of the published journal (Print) will be made available to only the corresponding author while other authors get a concessionary price.

Article Submission Guide

Editorial Communications, books and periodicals for reviews should be sent to The Editor, Nigerian Journal of Economic and Social Studies through the Journal portal. Authors should register on the portal and make submissions.

Manuscript should be prepared as followed:

  • Title page - this should consist the following:
    • Title of the paper
    • An Abstract - the abstract should be concise and be between 150 - 200 words. The abstract should not in any circumstance exceed 200 words, and should provide information on the main purpose/objective, methodology, main results, and policy implications of the paper.
    • Key words - this be maximum of four (4)
    • Journal Economic Literature (JEL) classification code for the paper - JEL code should not be more than three (3). JEL classifications for topics in different areas/fields in economics can be found here American Economic Association: JEL Guide or https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php
    • Acknowledgement of sponsorship/funding (if any)
  • Main text/manuscript - the main text of a manuscript/paper should start with title and an abstract. The main text for the paper should be structured as follow
    • Abstract
    • Introduction
    • Background/overview of subject matter (if necessary)
    • Literature review
    • Methodology - this should include theoretical framework (if any), model specification, estimation techniques, and data source/description
    • Results and Discussion
    • Conclusion and policy implications
    • References list
  • Other Important Things to note
    • Manuscript should be in MS word, Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing.
    • References should be in line with American APA 7th style

    • Papers must be original and devoid of plagiarism. All manuscripts shall be subject to plagiarism.
